Loving Paws and Tales

Comforting Care and a Dog in the Library – My name is Buddy and I’m a Golden Retreiver. Mom taught me to be a “Reader Dog”. I work at the Beaver Library where lots of kids read to me. It is fun, and I really like kids. I’m also a “Comfort Dog”. I go to the hospital and nursing home to visit and help people get well. Mom told me “Fuzz Therapy” is a really cool thing, and I have lots of fuzz (fur). I love to see people laugh and smile. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Jumping Chollas Agility

Jumping Chollas Agility Club (JCAC) was founded in December 1993 as an agility training club and a club to sponsor trials under the sanctioning of the North American Dog Agility council (NADAC). We started with a handful of charter members and 23 students. Now, our club hosts numerous NADAC and AKC trials each year. We sponsor seminars, demonstrations, and other events. JCAC owns a two acre training site called the Cholla Patch which features 30,000 sq. ft. of sports turf. JCAC is located in the northwest Phoenix-Glendale-Peoria area of Arizona.

Rattlesnake_dog-e1363891172683Snake -Avoidance Training

Snake Avoidance training trains your dog to avoid rattlesnakes.

We use a negative conditioning process that teaches dogs to associate the sound and / or odor of a rattlesnake, with a negative stim from an electronic collar. We use real snakes, and train in a setting that simulates the desert.

Rattlesnake Avoidance Training – More species of rattlesnakes live in Arizona than any other state in the country. Why risk the pain and cost of having you or your dog be a victim of a venomous bite, when your dog is the only effective means of detecting their presence in the environment?  Read More
